Creating an Artifact of Sport is No Simple Task...
Shooting sports takes hair-trigger timing, and a sense for the decisive moment when the action is at its peak, capturing the spirit of competition that is the essence of the game. To do this you need to know the sport, the players, and you need the right equipment to get the job done.
My experience in sports photography started with 7 years as the action photographer for the University of Guelph's Guelph Gryphons, covering their entire range of sports and team photos, as well as shooting for clients like, Ontario University Athletics (OUA), Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS), Basketball Canada and the Ontario Varsity Football League.
Freelancing for local papers like the Guelph Mercury, and the Guelph Tribune provided an opportunity to show that I can generate a high percentage of publishable images in as little as a few minutes of sport action, a crucial requirement when faced with multiple assignments on tight deadlines.
We work with specialized fast lenses capable of stopping the action in low light situations like high school gyms and hockey rinks, to get that professional, up close look, impossible with consumer cameras. We also can provide portable strobes for situations where some extra punch is required to freeze the action in darker arenas, or to create a properly lit team photo.
Artifacts for Life provides full tournament coverage with on-site proofing and printing services, with action photos displayed on multiple LCD screens immediately following each game, and prints as large as 8x10 provided within minutes.
We are currently accepting requests from leagues who require tournament coverage, head and shoulder and team photos, and can provide all of your players with custom prints, trading cards, and action photos with team names and graphics. Please email us for pricing or more information.
Whether it's football, hockey, basketball, or swimming, wrestling, or rugby, a little-league tournament, all-star game, or championship, Artifacts For Life will give your players a memory to treasure.
